Kai Tōtika me te Whakapakari Tinana - Nutrition and Physical Activity

The Kai Tōtika me te Whakapakari Tinana (KTWT)-Nutrition and Physical Activity Service, works to inform Māori whanau, organisations and communities of the importance of healthy nutrition and regular physical activity in their daily lives. The mission of this initiative is:To provide leadership, support, education and communications to empower Māori communities to improve health through good nutrition and participation in regular physical activity.

The Kai Tōtika me te Whakapakari Tinana-Nutrition and Physical Activity Service achieve this by:

  •  Providing innovative training and development opportunities for the nutrition and physical activity workforce in Aotearoa
  •  Sustaining mobilisation of nutrition and physical activity resources to improve knowledge exchange and community partnerships
  •  Developing and maintaining partnerships with key agencies in the nutrition and physical activity sector
  •  Developing and promoting credible Māori nutrition and physical activity messages

Ultimately through these activities Te Hotu Manawa Māori trainees will become active agents of change in their communities and whanau, reach a higher level of education and are supported and informed to make healthy decisions every day.
