An important component of the Auahi Kore teams work, our aim is to help strengthen knowledge and health promotion skills amongst the national hauora Māori workforce. We primarily deliver training for groups, organisations, marae and kura who are involved with Māori health promotion under the kaupapa of Auahi Kore - Whānau Ora; however our training is open to all people dedicated to improving Māori health.

National Auahi Kore Training and Update Hui 2008

National Training
Held annually, this 3 day wānanga style hui is a generic training for kaimahi working in Auahi Kore. Content includes, Introduction to Tobacco, Smoke-free Environments Act, Māori Health Promotion Models, Media Training, Marae Auahi Kore, Hapūnga Auahi Kore and motivational speakers.
Hapūnga Auahi Kore Training
This presentation style training is designed for rōpū wāhine or organisations and kaimahi who work with wāhine Māori. This training is currently being delivered for the Maori Women’s Welfare League regional branches and Nga Maia Maori Midwives o Aotearoa. Content includes smoking statistics, impacts of smoking during pregnancy, current initiatives, and resource support.
Combined THMM Training
This is holistic training, held in conjunction with the Te Hotu Manawa Māori Kai Tōtika me Whakapakari Tinana and Aukati Kaipaipa train-the-trainer programmes designed for all people dedicated to improving Māori health. The Auahi Kore teams’ component includes History of Tobacco in Aotearoa, current statistics, trends, initiatives, and resource support. This programme is specifically for participants of the Kai Tōtika me Whakapakari Tinana and Aukati Kai Paipa programmes respectively.

Marae Auahi Kore
Designed to train health workers to support iwi, hapū and whānau in helping their Marae become Auahi Kore. Content includes History of Tobacco in Aotearoa, current statistics, trends, initiatives, and resource support.
