Combined Hui for Auahi Kore and Kai Tōtika (Wednesday, 14 March 2007)


This coming March, Te Hotu Manawa Māori will stage the first ever National Combined Training between the Auahi Kore and Kai tōtika me Whakapakari tinana Teams of Te Hotu.

To be held at Taumata o te rā Marae from March 14-16 the Auahi Kore Training is a National ‘Train the Trainers’ Training. Trainees from over the country are expected to attend.

The training will cover Key elements for Auahi Kore practitioners such as Background to Auahi Kore, Marae Auahi Kore, Tikanga Māori, Māori Health Promotion Tools and Information, Project Management, and Media.

New National Auahi Kore Advisor Hemi Te Wano is excited about the upcoming event,
‘it’s going to be great, we have wonderful speakers, and fantastic workshops lined up’.

The wonderful speakers include Māori Health expert Professor Mason Durie, Māori Law expert Moana Jackson, and Te Reo Mārama Director Shane Kawenata-Bradbrook. Workshop presenters include Nicola McDonald from the National Heart Foundation and Suaree Borrell from the Whāriki Research Centre.
