Breakfast Eaters 'Fuller for Longer'
Researchers at the University of Auckland's Clinical Trials Research Unit, released results of their evaluation of a free daily school breakfast programme. The objectives of the research were to evaluate the effect of a free school breakfast programme on tamariki attendance at school,, academic achievement and short-term hunger. Although the results came back with little effect on attendance or academic achievement there were very positive effects on 'short-term satiety ratings', meaning tamariki were full for longer. Breakfast should always be the kick-start to our day, ahakoa te aha - kai parakuihi!
