2012 Raukatauri Workshops

To book a place on any of our 2012 workshops, please complete the attached enrolment form and return to the Raukatauri Music Therapy Centre.

The workshops are delivered by Registered Music Therapists and are for people such as teachers, parents/carers, students, therapists, specialist professionals and others.  If you are interested in finding out more about music therapy at Raukatauri, then the morning workshop is for you.  The afternoon workshops are intended to provide practical ideas and resources for using music with a range of people and in a range of settings. 

1. Music Therapy at Raukatauri

This workshop will introduce you to music therapy as practised at Raukatauri.The general principles of music therapy will be described and illustrated with case study examples.  There will also be the opportunity for some experiential, hands-on exploration of the instruments.

2. Using music with children and adolescents with special needs

 A practical workshop with ideas for listening and turn-taking games, playful activities with instruments, moving to music, and adapting familiar songs.

3. Using music with families

 A practical workshop with ideas for musical games and interactions suitable for families.  Working with family dynamics will also be explored and some case vignettes shared.

4. Sound Tracks: Vocal/song-writing workshop

If you are interested in finding new creative ways of using your voice, or encouraging children you work with to use their voices, then this workshop is for you.  As well as exploring different vocal games and techniques, the workshop will cover song-writing and song adaptation

5. Drum up a storm!

This workshop will cover some fundamental information about drums and how to play them.  You will learn basic playing techniques and explore ways of leading and developing group work, and using drums in group improvisations.
